Job Title: Software Engineer — Manufacturing Control & User Interface
Location: Boston, MA
Type: Contract to Hire
Compensation: $76.92
Work Model: Onsite – onsite
Hours: Standard business hours
Security Clearance: Not specified

Overview:
Join a growing U.S. biotechnology organization specializing in RNA medicine manufacturing. You'll own the software and controls that bring complex automated equipment to life—making each system fully operable, integrated, traceable, and audit-ready.

Responsibilities

• Own the software that makes the machine operable and auditable.

• Manage the system-level state machine governing process sequencing across all six subsystems, including interlocks, alarms, and fault-recovery logic.

• Develop and maintain the dual user interface: an on-site interface constrained to a single touchscreen, and a remote interface supporting full off-site process execution and lot disposition.

• Ensure version-controlled implementation traceable to the architecture document, hardware-in-the-loop bench testing, and formal verification of the state machine and interfaces.

• Support the integration and validation of data interfaces between manufacturing and analytics systems.

Requirements

• BS or MS in computer science, software engineering, or an engineering discipline with a strong software track.

• At least five years building full-stack software that controls or records physical processes — instrument control, industrial automation, laboratory informatics, or manufacturing execution.

• Strong in at least one of Python, C#/.NET, or C++ for instrument software, plus modern web front-end for the operator and remote interfaces.

• Fluency and ability to strategically use GenAI coding platforms.

• Knowledge of state machines, real-time constraints, device communication protocols, and structured data modeling.

• Hands-on experience delivering software and strong exposure to regulated environments, specifically 21 CFR Part 11, GAMP 5, computer system validation, audit trails, and electronic signatures.
