Cboe Global Markets operates a key office in the Overland Park Xchange (OPx), located in Overland Park, Kansas, a bustling suburb of Kansas City. The OPx business park is strategically positioned to provide convenient access to the Kansas City metropolitan area, offering modern infrastructure and a collaborative environment ideal for the financial services and technology industries. The OPx site provides a balaThe Real-time Software Engineering team is hiring for a Software Engineer.
Software engineers at Cboe design, develop, deploy, and support real-time systems. We care deeply about system reliability, testability, recoverability, fault tolerance, throughput, and latency. We measure times in microseconds and nanoseconds. Our engineers have a strong understanding of computer science fundamentals and software engineering. We are analytical thinkers. We are always learning our craft. If it’s broken, we fix it. If it needs refactoring, we refactor it. If it’s hard to test, we make it testable. We like statistics. We love automation. We are pragmatic. We ship code weekly. We’re looking for like-minded individuals to join us.
Your responsibilities will be:
- Implement performant, reliable, and maintainable solutions to technical projects within the Cboe Titanium exchange platform – with guidance and support from peers and mentors.
- Ensure your solutions are well tested, both by your own testing and in collaboration with our QA team.
- Participate in reviews of both your solutions and those of other engineers.
The ideal candidate has:
- 2+ years of experience with C++ or experience in another programming language with a strong desire to learn C++.
- Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
- Experience with Linux or UNIX-like systems and familiarity with at least one scripting language such as Python.
- Experience with database systems and familiarity with SQL.
- A self-directed, self-motivated attitude with enthusiasm for continuous learning, especially from constructive feedback.
You’ll really stand out with:
- Knowledge of financial exchanges.
- Knowledge of network programming fundamentals.
Minimum Education Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.

Salary Ranges (applicable for US locations only)
At Cboe, we are committed to providing a competitive, transparent, and market‑informed total rewards program. The anticipated base salary range for this role is $97,750-$126,500, with actual compensation determined by job‑related factors such as skills, relevant experience, education, internal alignment, and location.
This role may also be eligible for annual incentive compensation and, where applicable, participation in Cboe's long-term equity programs.
