Senior Software Developer Location: California, MD (Hybrid) Shift/Schedule: Full-time, hybrid schedule with regular onsite days Pay/Compensation: $90,220 – $145,000 per year About the Role An established engineering and technology services firm supporting defense programs is hiring a Senior Software Developer. This developer will design and build mission software used by government customers, working across the full development lifecycle. The company offers stable long-term programs, technical ownership, and a hybrid schedule. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded developer who enjoys owning features from requirements through release and supporting mission-critical government customers. You write maintainable code, communicate clearly with engineers and stakeholders, and take pride in helping junior teammates grow. You are comfortable working on long-term programs where reliability and security matter every day. You enjoy learning new technologies and bring a steady, collaborative approach to solving difficult technical problems with your team. Core Responsibilities Design, develop, and test software applications supporting defense customers Translate customer requirements into technical designs and working features Write clean, maintainable code and participate in peer code reviews Integrate software with databases, services, and external systems Troubleshoot defects and improve performance and reliability Document designs, interfaces, and release procedures Mentor junior developers and contribute to team best practices Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field Several years of professional software development experience Proficiency in languages such as C#, Java, Python, or C++ Experience with relational databases and web application development Familiarity with Agile methods and version control such as Git U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance Preferred Qualifications Active DoD security clearance Experience supporting Navy or other DoD programs Cloud, container, or DevSecOps experience Front-end framework experience such as Angular or React Security+ or similar DoD 8570 certification Benefits & Pay Pay: $90,220 – $145,000 per year Competitive annual salary based on experience Hybrid schedule with a mix of remote and onsite days Comprehensive health, retirement, and paid time off benefits through the employer Long-term, stable defense programs Tuition and training support for technical growth Screening Questions How many years of professional software development experience do you have, and in which languages?
