NetSuite Developer
About the job
Job Details: Job Location: Austin, Texas - AUSTIN, TX, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Role Summary
This is a hands-on coding role inside NetSuite - SuiteScript, RESTlets, and getting the most out of what NetSuite already offers before building anything custom. Saved searches, SuiteQL, and Analytics Workbooks come first; Python or Power BI only come into play for the rare cases native NetSuite can't handle.
Most of the operational footprint - including MES - runs natively inside NetSuite, and that's where this role spends most of its time. When we do need to connect out to a third-party system, this role owns building and maintaining those RESTlet and API connections, and troubleshooting them when something breaks or data stops syncing right.
Manufacturing background matters here - production, inventory, and shop floor execution should feel familiar, and direct experience with NetSuite Advanced Manufacturing specifically is a real plus.
This isn't an entry point into NetSuite - we need someone who's already spent several years writing production code inside the platform, comfortable owning a customization or integration from first line to go-live.
Key Responsibilities
NetSuite Development & Customization
Build, test, and maintain SuiteScript (2.x) customizations - User Event, Scheduled, Client, and Map/Reduce scripts - under direction from the Director
Build and maintain Suitelets and SuiteFlow workflow logic to support operational processes
Troubleshoot and resolve NetSuite scripting errors within customizations and workflows
System Integrations
Design, build, and maintain RESTlet and SuiteTalk (REST/SOAP web services) integrations between NetSuite and MES, WMS, TMS, and other operational systems
Monitor integration and connector health; troubleshoot failed API calls, webhook errors, and data sync discrepancies between NetSuite and connected systems
Map and validate data flows between NetSuite and third-party platforms, ensuring field-level accuracy and proper error handling
Partner with vendor and integration-platform technical contacts to test and validate integration changes prior to production deployment
NetSuite Analytics & Reporting
Build and maintain saved searches, SuiteQL queries, and NetSuite Analytics Workbooks to support operational reporting and dashboards
Provide backup coverage using Python or Power BI only for the smaller set of reporting needs that native NetSuite Analytics can't meet
Documentation & Collaboration
Document SuiteScript code, integration architecture, and standard operating procedures for developed functionality
Partner with Operations, Order Management, Logistics, and Finance to translate operational requests into scoped technical solutions
Escalate architecture-level, governance-level, or cross-system integration decisions to the Director rather than making unilateral changes
Support training and adoption of newly developed NetSuite functionality across departments
Qualifications: Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent practical experience
5+ years of hands-on NetSuite-specific development experience (general software development experience does not substitute); this is a coding-focused role, not a system administration or end-user position
Strong working proficiency in JavaScript, with demonstrated experience writing and maintaining SuiteScript (2.x)
Experience migrating or remediating legacy SuiteScript 1.0 code to SuiteScript 2.x
Hands-on experience building and maintaining RESTlets and API-based integrations (REST/SOAP), including troubleshooting failed calls and data sync issues between NetSuite and external systems
Experience with SuiteQL, saved search development, and NetSuite Analytics Workbooks to support operational reporting needs
Demonstrated preference for solving reporting and process needs with native NetSuite functionality before reaching for external tools or scripts
Background working in a manufacturing environment, with an understanding of production, inventory, and shop floor execution workflows
Hands-on experience configuring and supporting NetSuite Advanced Manufacturing (work orders, routings, work centers, and shop floor control)
Ability to execute scoped coding tasks accurately under direction; all architecture-level and governance decisions remain with the Director
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with Python or other scripting/query languages (DAX, Power Query M, R) that could provide backup coverage for the smaller set of analytics needs native NetSuite Analytics doesn't cover
Experience with FreeMarker (Advanced PDF/HTML templates)
Exposure to integration platforms (Boomi, Celigo) or custom REST/SOAP API integrations
NetSuite SuiteFoundation or other NetSuite certification
